My vision is that I'll try to blog about the basics of denim rather than sites like rawrdenim (check it out if you haven't!) which focuses primarily on raw denim and how you should wear/wash it. Much of what I have learnt about denim has been through wikipedia and the superfuture denim encyclopedia. But not being a native english speaker has been quite a challenge, since many of the manufactering methods use industrial words which have no correlation to the danish words for the same thing. But I think I've got it down now, so I'll just spread my knowledge.
Anyways. Some of the thing's I'll write about will be:
- Warp and weft. Does it make a difference, and should I care?
- Ounces and ounces of denim. But what does it mean?
- Sanforized, unsanforized, hot soaks, no soaks, starch and other basics.
- I'll try to write a comprehensive guide to choosing your denim. I'll try to include all sorts of denim, not just raw japanese selvedge denim.
- Do's and don'ts of denim styling. (e.g. how to avoid the canadian tux)
- Chambray. What is it and how do know what to look for?
And on top of all this, I'll also use this site as a sort of "denim diary" for my own raws. I'll try to update every other week, and I'll try to find other people who are interested in showing the world their denim progress.
If anyone reading this has any questions about denim, feel free to ask. It's the purpose of the blog to answer questions, afterall.
Sincerely, Chris.
